Well this is the end of this blog and my adventures in New Zealand. A wee bit of my heart will always be in New Zealand but I ust know and feel that at the moment my life is back in the UK.
I have a few weeks off between now and the start of my new job and new career as a Waste Management Office (no I am not a binman Nic) for one of the local councils. I am sure I will be visiting NZ again, but only as a holiday.
I have made some great friends and would not have changed any of my experience. It is what I needed to do at the time.
Now I have a new blog - www.whatisjaimieuptonow.blogspot.com - I'll try to keep it up to date.
Thanks for reading and I hope that you enjoy the new blog

How Many Flights and Ferrys later ??
It's never easy and direct to fly if you don't live in London. My flight this time to NZ with Emirates was....... deep breath:
Newcastle - Dubai (with an 8.5hr stop over but I got a hotel room which meant I could stretch out for a few hours if nothing else)
Dubai - Singapore
Singapore - Brisbane (where it was really raining)
Brisbane - Auckland
I had a hotel room booked in Auckland and spent a grand total of 24 hours in Auckland before I caught my flight from Auckland to Wellington. This is where I met my folks.
It was a few hours between me arriving and us getting the ferry but we didn't know what to do so just went to the ferry terminal and sat and nattered.
The ferry crossing can be very very rough but was fairly calm and only 3 hours to get from the North to South Island. I was more than happy to get to Picton that night as I started being ill on the ferry - not nice.

Changed My Return Flight for a Visit with Folks in Nov - Dec 2008
After I had decided to stay in the UK, I realised that I had a return flight from the UK to NZ. My folks had already arranged their holiday to NZ, so I decided to tag along for a few weeks and re-booked my flights for Nov 16 - Dec 4 2008.
Decided to Stay in the UK
This was a harder decision that I thought that it would be. I think I kind of knew when I left NZ that I may not be returning. What I actually thought was that I would return and see out the whole of my 12 month work visa.
After much though, soul searching and stressing I realised that although I loved Christchurch my heart was here in the UK. Truth be told, although I have made some great friends in NZ, I missed my friends at home and my family. I suppose one of the main factors was also that I am going to be an Auntie and I don't want to be someone who is in my neice of nephew's life for a few days every couple of years.
So - I decided to remain in the UK and not return to NZ.
